‘Amazing’ NPH Resident Mrs Williams Celebrates 100th Birthday
This month, NPH resident, Mrs Williams, turned 100 years old, so Paige and Sarah from our Welfare Team paid her a visit to help celebrate this special birthday.
Born in Jamaica, Mrs Williams moved to Northampton at the age of 38 and raised her family here. She has a large family, many of whom travelled from overseas to be with her for the occasion. Though she has sadly outlived all her siblings, she continues to be surrounded by friends, neighbours and her wider community.
Mrs Williams received a special birthday card from King Charles, which she proudly displayed during her celebration. Known for her independence, she shared her secret to longevity with the team: “I take good care of myself, because it’s nobody else’s job to do it!”
She continues to live in her bungalow and enjoys spending time with her neighbours. One neighbour, Mrs Robertshaw, told us:
“She is an amazing lady who still manages to stay in her own home with the help of her very caring family. Despite her age she still enjoys coming out with her walking trolley and taking a wander round the communal garden for her ‘exercise routine’. She had a lovely card from the King and Queen which she is very proud of.”
Paige and Sarah delivered gifts on behalf of the organisation, helping to mark this incredible milestone and offer some well-deserved recognition.
Please join us in wishing Mrs Williams a very happy 100th birthday.
